Week 4

This week many changes occurred in my aquarium. The water level was low and had to be refilled. There was almost no activity in the center of the aquarium. The algae content stayed the same but there were many little droplets that were green. Possibly dust particles of some kind. There were still seed shrimp. One of the shrimp had died and an annelid (stylaria) was eating it from the inside. The nematode population and the annelids seemed to steadily be growing. A few diatoms were present. A gastrotricha was spotted and only one cyclops was seen.
These observations were taken on 16Nov2007

Week 3

In week 3 dramatic losses in life were observed. There were several annelids still remaining and a couple of volvox were spotted. The lady bug looking things that were spotted before determined to be seed shrimp. There were a few of the shrimp alive but many of the carcusses were on the bottom of the tank. As before mentioned, there was not much life in the center of the aquarium. The annelids seemed to stay near the top and feed off of the moss. I saw one cyclops and a few juveniles. I think that I may have also spotted some cilia moving around.

Week 2

This week I added water and beta food was dropped in. There seemed to be considerably less movement in my tank. There were several lady bug looking things that are juvenile cyclops. A couple of mature cyclops were visible. Several nematodes were seen, as well as, what appeared to be a stylaria. I saw probably 3 different rotifers, a couple paramecium, filamentous green algae, and my moss.

Week One

A. I used sample ten in my Micro Aquarium and moss sample C.
B. Stationary and moving organisms were both visible. Organisms seemed to stay mostly on top or bottom. I spotted what looked to be a lynceus 2, triops, spirotomum, paramecium bursaria (many green looking balls), chaetogaster (white worm looking thing 2), a clear worm that had segments (possible nematode??), purple gauzy thing that spins around (kellicottia or keratella??), and clear bugs with spots that look like ladybugs 4.
